On Wednesday, Donald Trump, once again, took to Truth Social to abruptly shift US trade policy, announcing a 90-day pause “substantially” lowering reciprocal tariffs against all countries except China to 10 percent. Because China retaliated—raising tariffs on US imports to 84 percent on Wednesday—Trump increased tariffs on China imports to 125 percent “effective immediately.” That likely will not be received well by China, which advised the Trump administration to cancel all China tariffs Wednesday, NPR reported. “The US’s practice of escalating tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake,” the Chinese finance ministry said, calling for Trump…

Air India long languished under government ownership while cash-rich Middle Eastern rivals siphoned off travelers. Now the airline is trying to even the score with cheaper fares, fresh cabins and lounges as well as shorter layover times. Paul Hardman, managing consultant, Broughton, explores the current situation and ways of reducing greenhouse gases in this sector. Pressurised metered-dose inhalers (pMDIs) are essential for treating respiratory conditions like asthma and COPD, but their hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) propellants are potent greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. As environmental concerns grow, reducing these emissions has become a priority in healthcare. The pharmaceutical industry can address these challenges by investing in research for low-global warming potential (low-GWP) propellants. The NHS Long Term Plan aims to cut emissions by increasing the use of lower-carbon alternatives like dry powder inhalers (DPIs), greener disposal of…

Rumors claim Trump consulted chatbots On social media, rumors swirled that the Trump administration got these supposedly fake numbers from chatbots. On Bluesky, tech entrepreneur Amy Hoy joined others posting screenshots from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok, each showing that the chatbots arrived at similar calculations as the Trump administration. Some of the chatbots also warned against the oversimplified math in outputs. ChatGPT acknowledged that the easy method “ignores the intricate dynamics of international trade.” Gemini cautioned that it could only offer a “highly simplified conceptual approach” that ignored the “vast real-world complexities and consequences” of implementing such a trade…

It’s one of the most annoying first-world problems: when you reach for the milk to make a bleary-eyed cup of tea at 7am only to find the milk’s gone off and it’s all sour and lumpy. But there is a way to avoid this kitchen nightmare and extend the lifespan of your fresh milk – whether full cream, semi-skimmed or red-top skimmed – using a typical and cheap kitchen ingredient. It might sound disgusting, but adding just a tiny bit of salt to your fresh milk can help it stay fresh for longer without curdling. Once opened, milk generally lasts four…
