We have a sponsor for this episode! We are eternally grateful for Tursiops Studios, who you may remember as the creators of the awesome “wreck ’em up” The Day We Fought Space a few years ago, for sponsoring our podcast this week. Their new game is called Primrows, it’s one we’ve talked about before, and it’s available now on mobile and desktop. I give some of my early impressions about the game about halfway through this week’s show, but the game is free to play with a one-time premium unlock so there’s really no reason not to just go try…

We then take a wild turn and talk about the “Piss Bandit” that has been (allegedly) terrorizing folks in Pasadena, and hit on other current events like the Epic vs. Google ruling and the insane stuff happening with Roblox. Feral Interactive’s tease seemingly was about Total War: Empire from Creative Assembly and SEGA because the developer just announced that it will be coming to iOS and Android this Fall with release date and pricing to be announced shortly. Feral Interactive also confirmed that Total War: Empire will feature intuitive touch controls for phones and tablets, a redesigned UI, new quality of life improvements, and more. The 10 Best Game Boy Advance & Nintendo DS Games on Nintendo Switch – SwitchArcade Special – TouchArcade

In the latest look at retro game offerings on the Nintendo Switch, I’ve opted to take a different approach. You see, there aren’t quite so many distinct Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS ports on the Switch as some other consoles. I know, it surprised me too! So they’re going to be sharing a list, much like how they shared a few years on retail shelves. While you can find plenty of great games from the Game Boy Advance in the Nintendo Switch Online app, we’re instead looking at those games that dare to exist in the wilds of the…

Razer Kishi Ultra Mobile Controller Review – The Best Mobile Controller in 2024? – TouchArcade

Back in April, the Razer Nexus (Free) app on iOS and Android was updated with support added for an unannounced “Razer Kishi Ultra” controller boasting features like analog stick deadzone customization and more. Since then, Razer has announced and released the Razer Kishi Ultra with support for more than just phones. The Razer Kishi Ultra is also the most expensive mobile controller as far as I’m aware, but it offers more features than expected for specific devices. Having used the Razer Kishi and the Backbone One including the new USB-C versions for years now, I didn’t think I needed a…

The 10 Best PlayStation 1 Games on Nintendo Switch – SwitchArcade Special – TouchArcade

Well here it is, friends. This will be the last of my retro game eShop lists, mostly because I am running out of retro consoles with a good variety of games to choose from. I’ve left one of the best for last, though: the PlayStation. Sony’s first whack at the ol’ console market succeeded beyond any expectations, and it’s little wonder it built a library so full of great games that we still see re-releases to this day. Sure, these games gave Nintendo a black eye a quarter of a century ago, but it’s all smiles now for everyone who…

For a lot of folks who have been following Capcom’s fighting games over the years, the Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics announcement was unbelievable given recent events and the reception of the last Marvel vs Capcom game. As someone who has only played Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, I had always wanted to play the earlier games given the praise a few of them got from competitive and casual players. TouchArcade Game of the Week: ‘Guncho’ – TouchArcade

Whenever we get a new game from Arnold Rauers, aka Tinytouchtales, it’s pretty much a given it’s going to be in the Game of the Week conversation. I mean, have they ever released a bad game? The correct answer is “no, they have not.” Guncho is the latest title from Tinytouchtales, developed in partnership with Terri Vellmann on art and animation and Sam Webster on sound design, and it arrived on iOS and Android this past Monday. And, well, here we are again. Right off the bat Guncho has a pretty different look from most other Tinytouchtales games. It’s an…

The Latest OTA Update to ‘Marvel Snap’ Features Balance Changes to Angela, Miles Morales, and More – TouchArcade

They got me! They got me good this time! Just a couple of days ago, Marvel Snap (Free) had a proper App Store update that didn’t contain any balance changes to the cards. I thought we were getting away with a peaceful week here after the last OTA update flipped the tea table into orbit. But no, we’ve got a sneaky little late-week OTA update here, and it has some changes that are definitely going to hit the meta. Let’s pick them apart. As usual it’s a mix of nerfs and buffs, but the biggest change here is to Angela.…

The 10 Best Wii U Games on Nintendo Switch, Plus 5 We’d Like to See – SwitchArcade Special – TouchArcade

Hello again, friends. I’ve been having fun with this little series where I try to find games from other consoles that have been ported to the Switch, and it is time to pluck the low-hanging fruit. Indeed, this is the first article in this series where finding five more games I’d like to see is more difficult than finding ten that have already come. The Wii U had a tough life, and there are a lot of reasons why it failed but no one can say it didn’t have some great games. Many of them made the hop to the…

Back in the day the App Store would showcase the same games for a week, and then refresh those features each Thursday. Because of that developers got into the habit of releasing their games throughout Wednesday or very early Thursday in order to hopefully get one of those coveted features spots. Nowadays the App Store refreshes constantly, so the need for everyone to release all on…

Best Boomer Shooters for Steam Deck and PC in 2024 – From ‘DUSK HD’ and ‘Wizordum’ to ‘Dark Forces’ and ” – TouchArcade

Back in August last year, I wrote about the best boomer shooters on Steam Deck and PC. Since then, we’ve had new games, DLC, updates, and I’ve also gotten around to some I missed playing back then. This has been in the works for a while now, and I actually delayed it for Selaco (worth it) and Fallen Aces (this does not work on Deck yet, but will in the future). A little over a year ago publisher Devolver Digital in conjunction with developer Free Lives released Terra Nil on PC as well as mobile devices by way of Netflix Games, with a Nintendo Switch version coming the following December. Its basic premise is that it was a “reverse city builder” in that rather than trying to build and evolve the perfect city that virtual citizens want to move to, you were instead trying to terraform barren wastelands into lush greenery in order to entice animals to come and live in your spaces. Assassin’s Creed is no stranger to the mobile platform, and in fact I was a huge fanboy of the 2016 released Assassin’s Creed Identity which took the series formula and reworked it into a more bite-sized and replayable form that worked super well on the go. As much as I enjoyed that game though, it was still a “mobile-ized” version of a major AAA franchise on consoles and PC, and while it might have been ok to scratch the Assassin’s Creed itch here and there it wasn’t a replacement for a real-deal full-fledged Assassin’s Creed game. TouchArcade Game of the Week: ‘Squad Busters’ – TouchArcade

Well I did NOT expect to be here, picking a Supercell game for Game of the Week. But I’ve just never been one of those people who got into a Supercell game. Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Hay Day, Boom Beach… they just didn’t do it for me. Life simulation games, cozy games, farming simulation games, and hybrids of all three seem to do amazing on the system, but that isn’t surprising since the Switch is the “coziest” console of all time right? When I started playing Nintendo’s Endless Ocean Luminous, I realized just how much I enjoyed booting it up for a short session to unwind before moving to some RPG or the other. There are loads of games like that on Switch where I keep them…

Simogo’s New Website Now Online Looks at the Developer’s Amazing Games From the Early Days Until Now – TouchArcade

Simogo has been one of the best developers on not just mobile, but in general over the years. Every game is a creativity explosion, and the developer’s newest hits Switch and Steam next week in Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. Read my thoughts on the opening hours here. Ahead of that launch, Simogo has launched a new version of its website to catalog its career across all games. The new site is also a way for the team to preserve its history and depend less on social media. I love how it looks, and I urge you to check it…

The Latest ‘Marvel Snap’ OTA Update Brings Back the Age of Ultron – TouchArcade

It never fails: Shaun drops a new deck building guide for Marvel Snap (Free), and a new balance patch hits the next day. It’s just the rules of the universe, my friends. This is one of the OTA (over-the-air) updates that comes a couple times a month, and as such it really just adjusts some values on a handful of cards. That said, Marvel Snap is a game where value adjustments can result in some big changes to how it plays. Let’s have a look and see what’s in this one, along with a little analysis. I think this time…

Operation Guns’ DLC Review – Explosive Brilliance – TouchArcade

After the Among Us collaboration DLC, I had no real idea what to expect from Vampire Survivors (Free) for its next potential DLC. I assumed that was a sign that we’d just see popular indies like maybe Risk of Rain, but never in a million years did I think we’d see Vampire Survivors collaborate with Contra. Can you imagine telling someone Vampire Survivors has a collaboration with a Konami IP, but it isn’t Castlevania? I sure wouldn’t have believed you back then. Today, the Vampire Survivors Operation Guns DLC is launching worldwide for iOS, Android, Switch, Xbox, and PC platforms.…

‘PiKuBo’ Review – A Solid Take On ‘3D Picross’, But A Little Slight – TouchArcade

Thinking back to when I first got my iPhone, one of the earlier games I bought was a decent little take-off of Nintendo’s 3D Picross called Oh! Cube. It was implemented fairly well, and I had a nice time going through all of its puzzles. I expected more games along those lines, but just as on consoles, they never really came. Well, here’s one: PiKuBo (Free). It’s pretty clear what it’s doing if you’ve played 3D Picross before, but the devil as always is in the details. Is it worth trying out? Investigation time! Let’s talk the money stuff first,…

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for May 7th, 2024. A few days ago, THQ Nordic announced its next digital showcase in the form of the aptly named THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2024. This event is set for August 2nd at 3 PM EDT / 12:00 PM PDT with news around the publisher’s titles like Gothic 1 Remake and Titan Quest II which are both planned for PC and consoles. ‘Loop Hero’ Mobile Review – Almost Impeccable – TouchArcade

Over the last few years, there have been many indie games that debuted on PC and consoles that felt like they’d be a perfect fit for mobile. Some of those took years to show up on mobile while others never made it so far. Devolver Digital and Four Quarters’ dark fantasy roguelike RPG Loop Hero (Free) hit mobile this week through Playdigious, and just like Slice&Dice, it feels dangerous to have installed. Don’t even ask me what will happen when Balatro finally arrives on iOS, but I’ll worry about that when it happens. Back to Loop Hero, which has been…

    ‘Backflip Madness 2’ – TouchArcade

A little over a decade ago, we came across a weird new mobile game called Backflip Madness. It had been a few years since Bennet Foddy’s QWOP took the internet by storm and pretty much single-handedly created the wacky ragdoll physics genre, and Backflip Madness was cut from a similar cloth. It had you timing your taps in order to jump, tuck, and then land a backflip (or flips) off of a variety of obstacles across a variety of interesting locations. The ragdoll physics and paper doll-style character made for humorous and pleasing slams, but the jumping mechanics, despite being…

‘Civilization VI’ Has Been Fixed on iOS 17.4 and Later, Now Launches and Loads Fine – TouchArcade

Civilization VI (Free) on iOS from Aspyr wasn’t working for those running iOS 17.4 and later, and the developer had no ETA on a fix. As of an hour ago, Civilization VI has finally been updated on iOS to address this. I have the game installed on iPhone 15 Pro and it now loads correctly and let me resume my cloud saves. I don’t have it installed on iPad right now, but I assume this also fixed launching the game there. Aspyr has updated its support page for this error as well to confirm that it has been fixed with…

Following its announcement early last month, Apple just released the three new Apple Arcade games for May 2024. New ‘Goat Simulator 3’ DLC and Switch Port Teased in 10 Year Celebration Video – TouchArcade

Coffee Stain is celebrating 10 years of Goat Simulator and Pilgor with a brand-new video out now that goes over the many releases the franchise has seen over the years. The most recent releases are Goat Simulator 3 hitting iOS and Android as a premium release a few months ago, and it coming to Steam after being an Epic Games Store exclusive for a while. I still can’t believe it has been that long since Goat Simulator debuted, but here we are. The video stops with a tease for “2024 and beyond” revealing DLC and what is obviously a Switch…
