Jamie Oliver shared his super easy cheese puffs recipe that is the “perfect” addition to a New Year’s Eve grazing board. Whether you only have the family at home or guests coming over, treat yourself to the chef’s cheese puffs before the stroke of midnight. Requiring at least two hours in the fridge before baking, these are best prepared as soon as possible. Even if you don’t manage to make them today, there’s always tomorrow to celebrate New Year’s Day. “Pairing a glass of something delicious with something salty and textured is, for me, the perfect combo,” Jamie Oliver said…

Several members of Congress— Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.), and Representative Ro Khanna (D-Calif.)—filed a brief agreeing that “the TikTok ban does not survive First Amendment scrutiny.” They agreed with TikTok that the law is “illegitimate.” Lawmakers’ “principle justification” for the ban—”preventing covert content manipulation by the Chinese government”—masked a “desire” to control TikTok content, they said. Further, it could be achieved by a less-restrictive alternative, they said, a stance which TikTok has long argued for. Attorney General Merrick Garland defended the Act, though, urging SCOTUS to remain laser-focused on the question of whether a forced…

Other potential applications include recharging off-road e-bikes or remote control gadgets, running power tools or even powering a boot sale stand. The possibilities are endless but, alas, not without cost. For example, the GV70’s V2L adapter costs a cool £880. In addition to selected Genesis models, other EVs with V2L include the Kia EV9, while both the Volvo EX90 and Polestar 4 are expected to have it soon. But back to the stargazing. I’d like to say that with Thompson’s help, we saw a dizzying display, but unfortunately, a thick blanket of low clouds obscured Exmoor’s night sky. No matter;…

But Russia presumably gets no taxes on illegal crypto mining, and power outages can be costly for everyone in a region. So next year, Russia will ban crypto mining in 10 regions for six years and place seasonal restrictions that would disrupt some crypto mining operations during the coldest winter months in regions like Irkutsk, CoinTelegraph reported. Illegal mining is still reportedly thriving in Irkutsk, though, despite the government’s attempts to shut down secret farms. To deter any illegal crypto mining disrupting power grids last year, authorities seized hundreds of crypto mining rigs in Irkutsk, Crypto News reported. In July,…

Of course, it would be up to others to see whether profits could be made from small electric cars without production being subsidised by the state. In March, with Europe’s car brands on the back foot, de Meo went on the offensive and decried Europe’s regulations as “objectively favouring premium models”. He called on the authorities to help redress the balance by actively promoting the development of affordable cars again. Nothing from governments was forthcoming, but the Renault Group ploughed ahead anyway and launched the Dacia Spring, a bare-bones EV offering 137 miles of range with a headline-grabbing £14,995 entry price.…

You don’t have to drive fast to have a good time. Case in point: my outing in the revamped Toyota GR Yaris Evo was the most fun I’ve had in a car this year, and I never even got out of second gear. That sheet of ice was near Jyväskylä in the 1000 Lakes region, the heartland of Finland’s rallying scene and, handily, home to Toyota’s World Rally Championship team. And it was the perfect canvas on which to experience the capabilities of the Japanese firm’s hot hatch. Well, some…

For the rupee, this year has been a story in quarters – and the last hasn’t been particularly flattering. The pace of its retreat against the US dollar adds, at least theoretically, imports-fed inflation risks, and another layer of complexity to a decision on the cost of funds in an economy that logged its most circumspect pace of growth in seven quarters in the three months to September. It is not unusual for the currency of an emerging market to depreciate vis-a-vis the US dollar. The rupee is no exception to that rule. This year will mark the seventh straight calendar…

Without aligned process improvements across Regulatory Affairs, Quality and Pharmacovigilance/Drug Safety, pharma companies risk limiting their overall market performance, says MAIN5’s Tobias Hitziger. Multiplying market challenges mean pharma R&D organisations have no choice but to make their operational processes as efficient as possible if they are to remain commercially viable. Yet, today, across pharma Regulatory Affairs, Quality and Pharmacovigilance/Drug Safety functions, process rigour is wedded tightly to standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring a standardised way of working. These snapshot definitions of processes do not, of themselves, foster efficiency nor effectiveness however. Even where processes are improved and optimised over time,…

It fitted the titanium-bladed turbocharger from the proper homologation Evos for the World Rally Championship, a quicker steering rack, improved aero and ‘Tarmac’ suspension settings that put you 10mm closer to the road. The decals were a £700 option in 2001 – just the cherry on top. Contrast that with Citroën’s C4 by Loeb, a breathtakingly banal special edition, of which aesthetic tweaks were the main event. There’s one for sale in Tonbridge for £1295. Name-checking legends of motorsport doesn’t have to be done either expensively or cynically, though. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Fiat Stilo Schumacher…

Minutes after a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N been dropped off with me, it was off to a Gatwick Airport car park. I got back late the next night, a bit jaded, and then… two wheels kerbed, brutally so. It happened at opposite corners on a spiral down ramp towards the exit of the car park. The ramp was tight: the nearside rear was done first, and in trying to correct it I overdid it and took out the offside front. This was far worse than the nearside gloss white alloys of a Vauxhall Adam I took out on the North Circular…

What gives? Well, the method we’ve been using to adjust the prices is based on a blend of the Bank of England’s modern Consumer Price Index and older Retail Price Index data – measures of the cost of living. But the growth of the UK economy over the decades has increased people’s real income, meaning that even though commodity prices have continually inflated, people have had more and more to spend. In 1950, people simply consumed a lot less; that A90 would have been a much more significant investment for old Gordon than a Qashqai would be for a dentist…

Over the years, a few high-performance cars have emerged with monster whale-tail wings boasting various degrees of downforce. Quite often the pressure they exerted was impressive if not necessarily mind-boggling and often they were intended more to neutralise lift than create positive downforce. But these days, high-end sports cars have become faster than ever and, with it, the potential for aerodynamic downforce has increased. Many car makers found ramping up EV sales to meet the UK government’s 22% target a struggle, especially those with a more volume bent. But they’re a resourceful bunch, and those with EVs to sell rose to the challenge. Traditional premium brands like Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo definitely found it easier, thanks to their more wealthy corporate customer bases, while MG continued to satisfy budget buyers with its Chinese-built cars. Next year should be easier, with cheaper EVs like the Vauxhall Frontera coming to the fore, but for many 2024 was a year to write off financially – at…

In an important ruling, the Supreme Court on December 20 set aside the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC)’s earlier judgment that capped the interest charged by banks on late credit card bill paymets at 30 per cent. That includes expanded use of a system called ‘3D friction stir welding’, which can join metals without melting them, along with ‘constant DC chopping’ (CDC) spot welding, which controls the heat used to weld joints better. The use of both manufacturing techniques is claimed to result in greater rigidity and decreased deformation. In addition,…

The most important thing employees can do is document all incidents of harassment thoroughly, including dates, times and any witnesses present. This information can be extremely helpful when meeting with supervisors or HR representatives…
