Suzuki will axe the Ignis, Jimny LCV, Swace and Swift Sport in the UK in the coming months as the brand gears up to launch its first electric car. It has attributed the decision to the UK’s zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate, which forces manufacturers to sell an increasing proportion of EVs over the next decade. That starts at 22% in 2024 and rises to 28% in 2025 and 80% in 2030. Manufacturers face a £15,000 penalty for every ICE car sold above the permitted proportion. Suzuki UK director Dale Wyatt said: “The departure of these models will make room for EV and enable us to…

On Tuesday, a slim majority of the US Supreme Court issued an emergency ruling that places a stay on rules developed by the Environmental Protection Agency, meant to limit the spread of ozone-generating pollutants across state lines. Because it was handled on an emergency basis, the decision was made without any evidence gathered during lower court proceedings. As a result, the justices don’t even agree on the nature of the regulations the EPA has proposed, leading to a blistering dissent from Justice Amy Coney Barrett,…

Although some winemakers in Australia and occasionally New Zealand make rosé from a blend of red and white wines, this is prohibited in the EU – with the exception of rosé champagne.  This isn’t the only common misconception about wine, according to a poll of 2,000 adults by M&S.…

Kimera K39 unveiled as Lancia 037-inspired Pikes Peak racer

Italian restomod builder Kimera has released the first images of a dramatic new racer called the K39, which it claims to be the first ‘hyper retromod’ in existence. Inspired by the Group 5 Lancia Beta Montecarlo, the K39 is said to embody that car’s ‘silhouette’ construction, with bodywork that is styled to look like a road car draped over a bespoke chassis. To that end, the K39 is based around a carbonfibre monocoque, rather than the Lancia Beta Montecarlo shell that underpinned Kimera’s previous cars, the Evo37 and Evo38. Kimera has yet to fully detail the car’s technical specification, but…

How to keep grapes fresh and juicy for six weeks longer with simple food storage method

There is nothing better than juicy grapes to snack on during the summer as they tend to be a lot cheaper in stores at this time of year, but the only downside is that they spoil quickly.  Grapes tend to go bad or even mouldy only after a few days because they have a high water content and thin skin layer which makes them more susceptible to bacteria.  Luckily, Amy Cross, a food storage expert and founder of the cooking website The Cross Legacy, has shared that storing grapes properly in the fridge will keep them fresh for up to…
