Indian legend Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to become the first high-profile Indian cricketer to feature in the Big Bash League (BBL). As per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the off-spinner might make his debut for the side in the upcoming season.
Ravichandran Ashwin recently called time on his career in Indian cricket. Having retired from international cricket, the off-spinner confirmed that he will be available in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last season.
However, after seeking clarity from Chennai Super Kings, Ravichandran Ashwin made up his mind. Through a social media post, he confirmed that he won’t be featuring in any format of Indian Cricket, making himself available for the overseas league.
Ravichandran Ashwin openly mentioned that he wants to take the role of player cum mentor in the overseas leagues. The recent reports in the media claimed that he might ply his trade in the International League T20. However, now the reports suggest that he wants to explore more options.

The reports in Cricbuzz suggested that he will be making himself available for the BBL. There is a chance that he might be there for the upcoming season. If the reports are true, then he will become the first experienced Indian player to play in the league.
The reports added that Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Todd Greenberg is currently in discussions with Ashwin about the possibility of the star Indian spinner showing off his wares in the BBL.
Ashwin playing in the BBL will be a massive boost for the league. Usually, these leagues are keen to have Indian players due to their high value. But due to the policy of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), they aren’t allowed.
Ashwin playing in the league will not only increase the value of the tournament but also will invite more crowds.
