In a similar vein to its exterior, the supposedly new-age design of the Scala’s cabin doesn’t represent a big departure from what we’ve come to expect from Skoda. Functionality and convenience continue to be prioritised, however, and they are epitomised by familiar ‘Simply Clever’ features such as the umbrella holster in the door, the ticket holder on the driver’s side A-pillar, the lined dustbin in the driver’s door, and ice scraper in the fuel filler door. For the 2024 model year, you can add to that list an optional wireless phone charger that uses cooling air from the car’s air conditioning system…

Component design goes from around 18 months to a matter of weeks, according to Lukas, and there’s no conventional prototyping process to factor in, so “as soon as that design is done, your part is typically right first time”. Furthermore, the lack of hard tooling means designers and engineers have more freedom to change the product once it is already on the market, with no need to consider the millions of pounds invested in the production of a specific grille panel or suspension mount, for example. Essentially, additive manufacturing “massively de-risks the design you’ve made from a capital standpoint”. In…

More important is reform of both revenue and receipts. Though GST numbers look good, at some point, the 53rd meeting of GST Council will have to look at…

Bananas release a gas called ethylene which is what makes it ripen. That gas is released by the stems, so wrapping them up slows the release of ethylene. Another way to keep them ripe is by submerging them in water. In water, the bananas are not exposed to oxygen, which speeds up ethylene production. Placing them in water also keeps them away from other fruits that produce ethylene, like apples or pears.

“Misinformation” is what the recent House of Lords report on the UK’s bungled EV strategy called some of the mainstream media reporting about electric cars. “Several witnesses told us that media coverage of EVs was inaccurate and portrayed EVs in a disproportionately negative light – noting that even when corrected, fact checks often do not reach as wide an audience as the original article,” it read. The report highlighted articles from the Daily Mail, the Daily Express and The Telegraph as examples of this and quoted Ford as saying a “vocal anti-EV campaign” had emerged in early 2023. The boss of the UK’s biggest-selling…

Visually, the 3008 and e-3008 are as good as identical. The only changes other than an ‘e’ badge in front of ‘3008’ on the bootlid are that the wheel arches are slightly less flared and don’t get a gloss finish on the hybrid. Full geek points if you also spot that the tyres are 10mm narrower too. The two cars share the same sheet metal, design and dimensions (4542mm long and 1895mm wide), so the 3008 sits in the heart of the still-booming C-SUV segment and goes up against the likes of the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai Tucson. Underneath, though, there are changes to the STLA Medium architecture (something…
